Planning ahead

Schedule & tickets

  • Confirm the date, time, and location of the ceremony you’re attending. Most ceremonies are held at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome (a large indoor stadium on campus).
  • Know your graduating student’s college (e.g., College of Education, Engineering, etc.) and degree level so you attend the right ceremony.
  • All guest tickets must be requested by the graduating student. There will be no guest tickets available at the door. Seating is first come, first served—so arrive early!

Getting to Flagstaff

  • Driving: Flagstaff is right off I-17 and I-40. It’s about 2 hours from Phoenix.
  • Flying: You can fly directly into Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) or into Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) and drive/take a shuttle up.

Parking on campus

Parking is free for guests during commencement in designated lots. Look for signage and a shuttle service is usually available from parking areas to the Skydome.

Skydome tips

  • It’s large but can get crowded, especially during popular ceremonies. Plan to arrive at least one hour early.
  • Clear bag policy may be in effect. Bring only essentials.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll walk a bit.
  • Restrooms, concessions, and ADA accommodations will be available.

Photography

You can take your own photos, and professional photos of each graduate will be available for purchase later.

Accessibility at commencement

The Skydome has ADA accessible seating with companion seating for individuals using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and/or seated walkers. Guests who need accessible seating accommodations must have their student select reserved tickets for the accessible seating areas of the Skydome. Please select tickets in quantities of two (2) for this ticket type to provide one ticket for the guest using the mobility device and one companion.

Enjoy your stay
