Use this quick-access guide for who to call and what steps to take during emergencies and urgent situations on or near campus. Urgent situations can include medical, health, fire, and safety concerns.

Emergencies can happen when you least expect them, even while you’re on campus. This guide walks you through what to do and who to contact in different situations, so you’ll always know how to get the help you need, fast.

Contact a first responder

Call 911 for immediate assistance during an emergency or incident that is currently happening.

Call NAUPD at 928-523-3611 for non-emergency or past incidents.

NAUSafe app

The NAUSafe app is the official safety app for Northern Arizona University, designed to help keep students informed and prepared. It offers real-time alerts, emergency response tools, and safety tips, so you and your family can feel more confident about staying safe on campus.

With NAUSafe, you’ll be able to:

  • Share your live location with a friend so they can see your route and call 911 if needed.
  • Contact emergency services directly—NAU Police will see your location right away and send help.
  • Submit a crime tip if you see something suspicious.
  • Request a safety escort—NAU Police can walk you to your destination on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus when staff are available.
  • Get help with car troubles, like a dead battery or flat tire.
  • Sign up for alerts for the NAU campus location most relevant to you and for different Arizona counties.

Contact The Title IX Coordinator.
The Title IX Coordinator is a campus official who helps make sure everyone is treated fairly and feels safe. They support students who experience or see discrimination, harassment, or any kind of sexual misconduct.
