Arizona Promise Program
This state-funded program helps eligible Arizona resident, first-year students attend NAU tuition-free. It covers the cost of tuition and fees not already paid by other grants or scholarships, making college more accessible for more students.
Helping AZ students pay for college
Through the Arizona Promise Program, Northern Arizona University will cover the remaining cost of tuition, mandatory fees, as well as college/program fees, not already covered by other grants or scholarships for eligible students.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Arizona Promise Program, students must:
- Be an Arizona resident
- Be admitted to NAU as a degree-seeking, first-year student by May 1
- Attend NAU Flagstaff campus
- File your FAFSA by the April 1 priority deadline
- Be enrolled full-time (12+ credits per semester)
- Be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant as determined by your FAFSA
Renewal criteria
After your first year, you may continue to receive aid to cover your tuition, mandatory fees, college/program and Honors fees (for up to eight consecutive semesters total) if:
- You are eligible for the Pell Grant (as determined by the FAFSA)
- You file your FAFSA and have a complete and verified file by April 1 each year
Note: The Arizona Promise Program does not cover expenses outside of tuition and mandatory fees, such as housing or food, but other scholarships or grants might!
